MY WHY

It has been said that food is a catalyst that brings people together; however the manner in which food is accessed and grown is not equitable. As one of many solutions to the issue, I wanted to create an opportunity for people to be empowered and equipped to face the issue themselves.

HISTORY

Lillian Timber Farms is a Non Profit 501 C3 corporation established in 2019 as a response to food insecurity on the Northeast Side of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Founder LaTasha Timberlake returned to her neighborhood and hometown with the mission of uniting the community through gardening and teaching sustainable living practices.

The mother lot, “The Lottie Lot” located at 2125 N. Lottie OKC, OK 73111, was installed with community and corporate donations along with more than 50 hours of labor from community volunteers.

We participated in two spring planting work parties for Lillian Timber Farms in 2022. The events brought together people of all ages, backgrounds, and gardening knowledge for one common goal — to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for the surrounding communities. We enjoyed meeting new people and contributing to this worthy organization. We’re starting 2023 as foster parents for a pallet of beet seedlings, and we’re thrilled to continue supporting LaTasha and Lillian Timber Farms in the years ahead.

I am a fervent supporter of LaTasha Timberlake and Lillian Timber Farms! What this movement has brought to our community is amazing! I am grateful for the fresh produce and educational offerings. Please come and join us! If gardening is not your thing, there are many other opportunities to volunteer and show your support!

Watering the Lottie Lot each week was a beautiful way to stop, breath, and reflect on the progress of the year and the accomplishments of Lillian Timber Farms as an organization.

I love attending the work parties for Lillian & Timber Farms. These work parties allow me to connect with people all over the community and other helpful community partners to work side by side. I love seeing the families and friends that share a common goal improving our communities and feeding others!
